Kristina Smock Consulting sheds light on complex community issues for decision makers and the public through insightful policy analysis and by translating data and information into compelling stories with clear policy implications.

Kris provides research, analysis and communications to support the policy change work of grassroots organizers, nonprofit coalitions and local governments. She combines an astute understanding of the policy landscape with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate policy options in clear and understandable ways. She tailors each project to fit the needs and goals of each client. Deliverables can include internal memos, formal written reports, public presentations, data visualizations, workshops and trainings.  


SAMPLE PROJECTS

Coalition for a Livable Future, Regional Equity Atlas 2.0: Project Manager for the Regional Equity Atlas 2.0, a research and education project using maps, data and stories to illuminate the Portland metro region's geography of opportunity and support policy change to address disparities, 2010-2015.

Community Organizing and Family Issues, Policy Research: Conducted research to support the development of policy change campaigns related to elementary school discipline policies, reinstating recess in Illinois’s elementary schools, expanding preschool access for low-income families, and protecting low-income households from predatory lending, 2006-present.

 

Multnomah County Department of County Human Services, Poverty in Multnomah County Reports: Researched and wrote comprehensive reports on poverty in Multnomah County to inform the county government’s planning and policy solutions, 2014 and 2019.

City of Roseburg Community Development Department, Homeless Population StudyWorked with the City of Roseburg to assess its strategies to address homelessness and provide policy options based on stakeholder interviews, best practices research and data analysis, 2018-19.
